Internships

Internships at New Tech High

 

Internships and work-based learning are a vital part of the growth and success of New Tech High students. All New Tech High students complete a 60-hour field-based internship.

 

We are thankful and grateful for the many Napa and North Bay businesses and organizations that have hosted New Tech High students. If interested in hosting a student as an intern, please contact Internship Coordinator Sabrina Assourian at sabrina_assourian@nvusd.org or NVUSD Work-based Learning Coordinator, Amber Cleveland at amber_cleveland@nvusd.org.

 

The Internship Process

 

Most New Tech High students complete their internship during the Summer between Junior and Senior year or during the Fall or Spring of Senior year.  However, exploration into career interest begins during Freshman year.  It is important that students do not wait to begin the internship process as securing a mentor and internship site can be a time-consuming process.  Please see below for helpful resources in navigating the internship process:

Documents for Completing Internship:

 

Step 1) Complete the NVUSD Activity Participation Form
Step 2) Complete the NVUSD Student Personal Vehicle Form
Step 3) Complete Career Activities in Naviance
Step 4) Complete Resume/Cover Letter  
Step 5) Complete Employer Outreach Form
Step 6) Complete Request for Internship Approval
Step 7) Complete Internship Agreement (this will be sent electronically)
Step 8) Track Your Time Each Week
Step 9) Ensure Mentor Completes MidPoint Evaluation
Step 10) Ensure Mentor Completes Final Evaluation
Step 11) Create a Thank You Card for Your Mentor
Step 12) Prepare and Present Your Final Presentation
